Sunflower Seed Lab








  
Planted a new seed:
 





 










For this lab, I planted a sunflower seed in a plastic cup with some soil. I wanted to see if my sunflower would actually grow and how long it would take to grow. My sunflower has been doing very welll over the last couple of days. I planted it on February 11 and now it has grown tremendously in just 9 days.
Day 1: No Growth
Day 2: No growth
Day 3: Growth- the seed sprouted to above the soil surface into bulb * Watered the seed
Day 4: Growth- the seed began to rise higher than the soil surface into a bulb-1 inch
Day 5: Growth- the seed grew into a stem with a singular leaf that was attached to itself-5 inches *watered the seed
Day 6: Alot of growth- the stem began to rise and the singular leaf started to seperate into two distinct leaves-7 inches *watered the plant
Day 7: Alot of growth- the stem began to rise even higher and the leaves seperated completely- 8 inches *watered the plant
 Day 8: Extreme Growth- the stem rose even higher and the leaves fully seperated into two different directions and were fully formed, the plant started to sway towards the sun as it sat on my window-11 inches Day 9: Extreme growth- the stem is grew even higher with the leaves getting a little bit bigger in diameter-11 inches
Day 11: My sunflower died.


Day 15: I got a new seed and replanted the seed in a new cup.
Day 16: A bud sprouted.
Day 19: The sunflower's stem got taller and the leaves separated. It was about 10 inches tall.
Day 21: The stem continued to grow and the plant was developing more. Evidence of the sunflower starting to sprout.
Day 23: The plant started to shrivel up and turn a brown color.
Day 24: The plant turned more brown even though it was being watered.
Day 25: The plant started to wilt.
Day 26:  The plant completely fell over and lost its green color. It died.
